Looking to get tickets to the Tennessee festival Bonnaroo? Organizers will announce today when tickets will go on sale. Sales were suspended after a huge demand locked up sales systems and caused other technical problems Saturday. The June festival in Manchester, Tennessee, will feature The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead and even The Beach Boys. Get more details online at www.Bonnaroo.com.
So, remember the comments that Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl made during an acceptance speech at the Grammy Awards the other weekend. He said something to the effect of his band’s winning awards shows that real music, not the stuff that highly polished using advanced software and auto-tune, is still worthy of recognition. His comments seemed to be a stab at all the tripe there is today in the pop music market. Well now Grohl fells it necessary to clarify—he likes the little mistakes in music, it makes it feel more human. He also says that he loves all music and that musicians use different tools to do what they do. Grohl’s 33-second acceptance rant talking about music that comes from the heart prompted a bunch of rage-filled postings online. I think he was right on to point out that Pop music sucks.
