They're coming!

It’s official! This year’s Mayhem Festival has been announced and it is going to be brutal as ever. The maggot army will be in full force as the boys get back behind the mask with Slipknot. Also headlining will be Slayer and Anthrax. The 26-date tour kicks off June 30 in San Bernardino, California, snaking throughout the country with a stop in St. Louis at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater July 20th and in Chicago July 21st. The lineup will also include As I Lay Dying, The Devil Wears Prada and Asking Alexandria. Get-off-your-ass pre-sale goes live April 6th. I’d suggest keeping a close eye on RockStarMayhemFest.com for the latest updates.

Old is new

Van Halen is catching some flack for a tune being previewed online. There’s a 90-second clip of a new song called “Blood and Fire” that fans say is not new at all. Apparently the tune is an adaptation from an instrumental song titled “Ripley” written by Eddie Van Halen for the 1984 movie The Wild Life starring Chris Penn. “Ripley” was never released on a soundtrack for the movie, but diehard fans quickly pointed out the similarities. Another new song, “Stay Frosty,” was featured on last night’s episode of CSI.
