August 27, 2010 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop All hope is not dead Pantera will forever live in the hearts of metal heads worldwide, and rightfully so. The crushing vocals topped with driving drums and shredding guitars of the 90s era act was a brilliant trailblazer for other metal artists that followed foot. With Dimebag dead, his brother with HELLYEAH, Phil sober and on his own (who knows what the hell happened to the bassists), there is little hope that new Pantera will ever come out. Well, hope is not dead! New, or previously unreleased (which is still new to us), Pantera will be hitting the internet this coming Monday morning! “The Will to Survive” will make its debut on the band's official Facebook page at 11am, August 30th. The new tune will be part of a special 20 year anniversary Pantera box set to be sold with all kinds of goodies including three discs. One dics will be entirely compsed of previously unreleased tunes! Head over to Pantera's webstore to pre-order the boxset with one version coming out next month and an ultimate version coming out in November. Be sure to “Like” Pantera on Facebook as well to stay up-to-date on the boxset's stagared release. Eclectic Erna It took several years for the current Godsmack album to come out, as the band took a break. With the forthcoming solo album from Godsmack front man Sully Erna, the question's got to be asked ... will it be another sevearl years before a new Godsmack album come out? Well, we'll have to wait for answers to those questions. In the meantime, Erna is talking up his new album saying it is an intellectual and eclectic album where every listen will provide something new. Many of the tunes on the forthcoming album were songs that Erna had put on the side over the years. There's a lot of tribal and primitative hand-drums and somewhat of a world music vibe. Godsmack fans may be turned off by these epic tunes, some weighing in at 9 minutes, but it is worth a shot, right? “Avalon,” Erna's solo album, will be out September 14th.
