August 16, 2010 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop Rockin' weekend What a weekend for rock in central Illinois! Last night, the weather was near perfect for the Illinois State Fair grandstands act featuring Chevelle opening up for Shinedown. If you've got pictures of the show, be sure to share them on WQLZ's Facebook page for all to see. Speaking of the Fair Grounds, don't forget, WQLZ will be out at the Coors Light Entertainment Tent all week long with the Monsters of Moch lineup. Tonight, we'll hear from the Bon Jovi tribute band Dead Or Alive and Silver Bullet, a tribute to Bob Seger. It all starts at 3 this afternoon with DJ Bird pumping some tunes while you enjoy some ice cold drinks. No rain check for Rockfest Friday at the fairgrounds, the weather caused some serious problems for the sold-out Lady Antebellum show that was actually canceled because of the weather. But Friday downtown at the Prairie Capital Convention Center, the show went on regardless of the storms that rushed through. The Capital City Rockfest was hours upon hours of rock with a killer set and an awesome pyro stage-show from Avenged Sevenfold. Very few people knew about this, so you should feel privileged reading (or hearing) this. Though Disturbed did not play at Rockfest, they were in town days before Friday's show rehearsing for the Uproar Festival they are currently out on the road headlining with Avengened Sevenfold, Stone Sour and Hellyeah. Let's just hope Rockfest kick-starts Springfield being a must stop location for rock-tours and acts! Again, got some pics? Share them on the WQLZ Facebook page! Catch the Music Minute every weekday with the Free Beer and Hot Wings Show on 92-7 WQLZ, the Rock Station. |
