Perry is pissed

Apparently, Steven Tyler doesn't talk to his band much. The revelation and internet rumor that Tyler threw his name into the pile of potential judges for American Idol was news to Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry. News circulated quickly online that Tyler was approached by Fox as a potential judge for the wannabe-celebrity reality show. It traveled so fast that every talk show in America squeezed it into their show in some fashion. Apparently, the news traveled on the world wide web faster than Tyler could tell those close to him because that's how Joe Perry found out about it … not from Tyler's mouth but from the web. Interestingly, Perry told the Boston Globe that he confronted Tyler over the weekend about American Idol, because it's kind of a big deal, and Tyler said he was told not to discuss it. Then why would you tell the media? Idiot! Maybe falling off the stage last summer caused some serious brain trauma. In comments to the Globe, Perry seems to be rather upset with his band mate of 40 years. “Why so secretive? We're told it's a done deal,” Perry said. “If Steven is committed to a TV show, that kind of affects the rest of us. We'd like to plan our lives, ya know? ” Maybe this will prompt more rumors of Aerosmith looking for a new singer like the most recent stint of rehab Tyler served did.

Top of the charts

Avenged Sevenfold won't let the death of their original drummer slow them down one bit. The band's latest album “Nightmare,” that was finished up shortly after the death of The Rev, has sky-rocketed up the charts. In the first week of sales, the album sold 162,000 copies landing it well into the top of the Billboard 200. This being their 5th studio album, every album the band has released has received more and more sales. Their 4th studio album sold 94,000 in its first week of sales back in 2007. That's nearly 3 times more sales than their 3rd studio album sold in its first week. But, it's not just the success of their most recent album the band is celebrating, the video for the first single from the album is the second most popular music video on YouTube. Avenged Sevenfold will be joined by Stone Sour, Hellyeah, Sick Puppies and others here in Springfield for the Capitol City Rockfest at the Prairie Capitol Convention Center August 13th.
