New Serj

After a successful run performing his original rock tunes with a symphony, Serj Tankian is back with some new stuff. The self-produced album “Imperfect Harmonies” is the follow up to the politically minded rocker's “Elect the Dead.” Wanna hear the first single? Swing on by Serj's website, sign up your email, and you'll be able to download “Borders Are.” The website opens up with a map showing borders disappearing, playing into Serj's philosophy of world-wide community spirit in the face of oppressive forces projecting old traditions of nationalism onto people across the globe.

"Gun Show"

The sexy rocker Maria Brink and her boys from In This Moment have released the video for their new single “The Gun Show.” The song is about “self respect, staring anyone else in the eye, and basically a theme of a showdown,” according to Brink. The video is a bunch of cowboys (or cowgirls) getting together in the desert for a little fun with guns. The southern California rockers third album “Star-crossed Wasteland” will be out July 13th in the states. In This Moment will be out on tour with the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival.

Helping out

A couple of notable noble acts from rockers include Buckcherry's push to help oil spill victims and Papa Roach's desire to help the homeless and hungry. Buckcherry is making their song “Our World” from the forthcoming album “All Night Long” available through iTunes. All the proceeds from the song will go to help out those effected by Big Slick in the gulf, both human and animal. Buckcherry's album will be out August 3rd. Meanwhile, Papa Roach will be making a message crystal clear on their forthcoming album “Time for Annihilation … On the Record and On the Road.” The album, which is a mix of live and studio recordings, will feature a track of front man Jacoby Shaddix pleading listeners to get out their cell phones to text a $5 donation to WhyHunger, an organization fighting hunger and poverty since 1975. Homelessness strikes home for Shaddix as he suffered through that situation as a child. Papa Roach's album will be out August 31st and if you can't wait to donate, call 1-866-3-HUNGRY.
