June 9, 2010 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop Shiprocked Up for cruising around the open seas with a bunch of rock stars? It's not a new concept to be on a ship with line up of live music form national acts, but this may be new for the metal world. There have been cruise packages in the past where you can hang out with some softer rock type artists while living the life of luxury on a cruise ship. Now there is Shiprocked 2010! This three day cruise will set sail in November from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. On the stage will be great acts like Drowning Pool, 10 Years, Black Stone Cherry, Cinderella and even Sevendust. Tickets are $599 per person for the three day cruise. And the crew on board will be working for a great cause too! Money raised on board will be donated to cancer research in honor of the late great Ronnie James Dio. For more details, visit www.getshiprocked.com. Debuting tunes The past few days, video of Stone Sour debuting songs on stage have been surfacing. The first preview of the new album came out of a show in Germany. “Mission Statement” was captured by fan shot video. Front man Corey Taylor said the band was looking for an anthem to start the new album with and “Mission Statement” is that tune. Starting tomorrow for 48 hours only, “Mission Statement” will be available for download so fans can start wetting their pallet for the new album “Audio Secrecy” which is due out in September. The second song debuted on stage was “The Bitter End,” which was also performed by the band at the Germany show and captured by fan shot video. New RATM? In huge news, the chances of Rage Against the Machine getting back together for a recording session are greater now than they ever have been since the band stop putting out new material back in 2000. In an interview with NME, Rage front man Zach de LaRocha said “I think it's a genuine possibility. We have to get our heads around what we're going to do towards the end of the year and finish up on some other projects and we'll take it from there.” But not too long ago, Rage guitarist Tom Morrello said that fans shouldn't hold their breath for a new album from the politically charged hip-rock band. De LaRocha made his comments after a free RATM show in London last week. Catch the Music Minute every weekday with the Free Beer and Hot Wings Show on 92-7 WQLZ, the Rock Station. |
