June 4, 2010 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop Getting animated Apparently the diabetes, appendicitis, sub-arachnoid hemorrhage, and hole in his heart have had no ill effects on Bret Michaels' career. He's tackled Celebrity Apprentice, performed on American Idol and now gets animated in a Nick at Nite claymation TV Show. The June 11th season premier of “Glenn Martin, DDS” is where Michaels lends his voice and character to the small screen. In the segment Michaels' likeness appears on (bandana, sudo-beard, rock t-shirt and all), the main characters of the show are taking part in a wedding game and the Poison front man is asking some silly questions and positing some lame jokes just before high-kicking a Howie Mandel clay figure in the face. That's the best part of the entire clip, you can view online. Intimate tour Beginning July 6th, Smashing Pumpkins will be touring around in very intimate settings. The 14 date tour will be the first time Corgan has appeared as the Smashing Pumpkins since December 2008. Fans will be introduced to all new members of the band except for Corgan, who is the only remaining founding member of the group. The upcoming shows will feature some classic Pumpkins tunes along with some obscure stuff and new material from “Teargaren by Kaleidescope,” the most recent and freely released stuff from Corgan's vault. Select fans will be invited to view the sound checks where the band will play never before released material. If you want to get a heads up on the invites, be sure to comb over SmashingPumpkins.com to find a way to enter info to join a fan club or some B.S. like that. Interestingly enough, the Pumpkins won't have a stop in Chicago, the home of Corgan and crew. Check out some of the new tunes from the Pumpkins in the player below.
