April 19, 2010 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop Want tickets? Good luck It must be a sign that the band is back together and as strong as ever. Aerosmith's show for Fenway Park sold out within one day over the weekend. That's tens of thousands of tickets gone in less than 24 hours. Way to go, guys. The band's future had been in question since late last summer and up to just a few months ago. Front man Steven Tyler fell down off the stage in front of a ton of bikers at Sturgis last summer, injuring himself enough to cancel a string of shows and also enough to get hooked back on pain killers. While in rehab, Tyler would pop out to go sing Aerosmith karaoke in bars and also, one report had him in a Home Depot using the public address system to sing Aerosmith songs. During Tyler's time in rehab, Joe Perry was very open in the media to having a new singer audition for the band. After that stint of uncertainty, the band is back together just in time for the new touring season. Leaked audio Speaking of bands getting back together and being as strong as ever … Soundgarden announced earlier this month that they were going to be playing at Lallapalooza in Chicago later this year, sparking fans to be more than ready for the band's reunion. So ready, in fact, that audio of Soundgarden's entire reunion performance from over the weekend in Seattle leaked online. This was the first show the band has played since 1997, believe it or not. The secretive Soundgarden show was billed under the pseudonym Nudedragons and was an intimate show of only 1,000 fans. Hear the audio for "Spoonman" here (this link will give you a bunch of other links to other songs performed by Soundgarden over the weekend). Catch the Music Minute every weekday with the Free Beer and Hot Wings Show on 92-7 WQLZ, the Rock Station. |
