April 16, 2010 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop Cooking the books There's a new metal music cookbook on the way out. This will surely be a great birthday, anniversary or hell, even Christmas present for that special person in your life. The book will be released in late November, just in time for Christmas. Author of the book, Steve Seabury, said some artists were apprehensive about being involved in a cookbook, but most of those contacted were all about it. Seabury said that many of these guys started out in kitchens, washing dishes and cooking. “Mosh Potatoes: Recipes, Anecdotes and Mayhem from the Heavyweights of Heavy Metal” is, as the title suggests, a bunch of recipes and stories about rock stardom from the likes of Gun N' Roses, Anthrax, Megadeth, Lamb of God, Mudvayne, Steel Panther, and even Type O Negative. Everything dies He had one of the most recognizable and strongest voices in rock, creating a sound that only Type O Negative could provide. Most of their music delved into the topic of the end of life and now their lead singer is experiencing that stage of this existence. Peter Steele is being remembered this week after passing away Wednesday evening. Steele died from heart failure. His band mates released a statement yesterday saying Steele had been “enjoying a long period of sobriety and improved health” and was getting ready to enter the studio to start working on a follow up to their 2007 album “Dead Again.” Rest in peace, Peter. Already knew this This comes as no surprise, but video surfaced of Revolver Magazine presenting the Hottest Chick in Metal award to the ever fine and friggin' gritty hardcore Maria Brink from In This Moment. In This Moment has been in the studio working on their new album “Star Crossed Wasteland.” The band has been updating fans with webisodes showing their living quarters and the recording process. Part two was released earlier this month, then taken down, and has since been re-posted. You can see that second installment here.
