Using YouTube

More artists are using YouTube to give a special look at what's going on with their new stuff. Black Label Society has been in the studio working on a new album and front man Zakk Wylde is updating fans from deep inside the trenches. Well, it's not too deep inside the trenches ... his studio is just outside his home. A YouTube clip shows Wylde talking about what the latest is from the band. A few months ago, BLS's drummer left the band and it wasn't hard for them to get a new one. Expect a summer release for new BLS. Also being talked about on YouTube is a new attempt by Buckcherry. Josh Todd and Keith Nelson talk in a video clip about how the new record is indeed a rock n' roll album. The band didn't cut any demos so, according to Todd, they were really chomping at the bit to hear something in playback. No word on when the new Buckcherry will be out.

Ramping up

Godsmack's anticipated album has yet to be released, but already there have been two songs released and a third tune is now available to get fans even more stoked. The album's release is May 2nd, but there will be some songs available streaming and even for download before then. “Love Hate Sex Pain” is available for fans who have a twitter account. The same way STP's “Between the Lines” was made available is how the new Godsmack track can be heard ... you'll have to tweet that you are listening to it to actually hear the song. Also, the band's sixth webisode has been released featuring them giving a behind-the-scenes peak of how they recorded “Devil's Swing.” For more details, head over to Godsmack.com.

Michaels wins

Fathers' day is still a few months away, but the “Father of the Year” award has been offered up to a rock star by the American Diabetes Association. Poison front man and reality TV Star Bret Michaels helped raise over $100,000 for ADA on Donald Trumps “Celebrity Aprentice.” That is the most raised by any celebrity from any season. It was also enough for the ADA to hook Michaels up with the award.
