April 8, 2010 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop Cause of crash The official word has been given by the NTSB about what caused that fatal airplane accident of 2008 involving Blink 182's Travis Barker. If you forgot, and I don't blame you, in September of 2008, news broke that a private jet carrying Travis Barker, DJ AM, and a few other people, barely made it off the runway before it crashed into a nearby street--bursting into flames killing 4 people. The only survivors were Barker and DJ AM. What caused the accident? Deflated tires, damaged brakes from tire debris and the snap decision by the pilot all caused the plane to go out of control and eventually crashing and bursting into flames. The pilot, who perished, only had about 35 hours of flying for the jet that crashed and the charter company admits to having not checked the tire pressure for three weeks. A spokesperson for NTSB said the accident didn't have to happen. Countdown over Rush will be hitting the road for a “Time Machine Tour” later this summer. The Canadian threesome had placed a countdown on their website leading fans to speculate what was going on, what was the big announcement going to be? The fan site, RushIsABand.com, leaked the tour information the night before the announcement was made this morning but didn't have all the info. The countdown reached zero this morning and the list of shows is staggering. A cross country trek begins in New Mexico June 29th and will be in Chicago, July 5th and St. Louis, August 22nd. The band has begun production of their live show in Canada and is also engineering their first record since 2007, according to the fan website. Previously, drummer Neal Peart said that the band is working on a few new tracks and may be releasing those tracks by themselves, playing a few shows here and there, then going back to songwriting.
