In a time of such political turmoil, music is one of the many art-forms that artists speak out, especially when it is part of the act. What about when rockers are welcomed to cable news to discuss their beliefs? Ultra right-wing gun enthusiast and nature conservationist Ted Nugent never shies away from the public spotlight, especially when it comes to bashing liberal ideology. Appearing on FOX News' Neil Cavuto Show, the Nuge may have taken his rant a bit far. When talking about the elections in November, Nuge equated the politicians to pigs and said “we gotta kill the pigs.” Now, with accusations flying around all over the place trying to blame the right for hate speech and other types of threats, made-up or real, don't you think you could have said something else, Ted? He was later pushed to say he was not joking, only talking in metaphors. Watch Ted and Neil blather here.

New album being mixed

Meanwhile, politically conscious System of a Down front man Serj Tankian has a new album in the works and on its way out. Serj has been quite busy with his solo side project. The working title of the album that has been recorded and now being mixed is “Imperfect Melodies.” Though there are some traditional rock instruments in the mix, there is also a lot of electronic and symphonic elements as well. Lyrically, Serj's album will touch on a myriad of topics from personal issues to environmental and political issues. A DVD/CD of Serj's symphonic rendition of his earlier side project “Elect The Dead” was recently released. Watch a video of his performance here.

Bring out the dead

Speaking of solo projects, Mick Mars of Motley Crue announced on his Twitter account that he is working on his own project from his home studio. In what critics say is one of the most influential guitarists of the 80s and beyond, the solo album will surely be something to check out. Personally, I thought Mick Mars was dead ... well, at least he looks that way.
