March 24, 2010 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop Pre-order, get the remix The new Deftones album will be out May 4th. The band is offering up a free download of the remix for “Rocket Skates” by M83 as a teaser with a pre-order of the album. About a month ago, the band released “Rocket Skates” for free, apparently for one day only. You can now head over to iTunes to purchase the single and title track “Diamond Eyes.” If you don't feel like purchasing the tunes, you can always stream them through sites like YouTube. The band has released the two tunes streaming online and fans are getting stoked (or at least I am). You can pre-order your copy by hitting up Deftones.com. Get the pre-order, get the remix, and get the peace of mind that you will get the album in the mail the day it comes out. Pretty big sneak peek There's six new songs streaming online of Slash's new album. The shredder's first truly solo album is due out April 6th in the states and May 10th in the UK. By the way, this is one of the first times I have ever seen an album released in both the UK and the states where the release here in America being before the UK release. The UK always gets this type of stuff first. Well, not now you slimy Brits! Anyways, back to the album … you gotta head to three different sources to hear the tracks, but you can get a pretty big sneak peak at what to expect. With a total of 13 tracks and 2 bonus tracks, the songs available to stream online are almost half of what is on the album. Included in the set of streaming songs is what was originally going to be the single, “Crucify the Dead” featuring Ozzy Osbourne. Instead of that being the release, Slash chose the single to be “By the Sword” featuring Wolfmother front man Andrew Stockdale which is also streaming. Head over to Amazon to hear “Ghost,” and over to ESPN.com for “Starlight,” and “I'll Hold On.” A streaming playlist (below) includes “By the Sword” and “Watch This” featuring Dave Grohl.
