March 22, 2010 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop Seven years later With their sophomore album titled “War is the Answer,” it only makes sense that the war-zone is a fitting venue. Well, in a show of support for the armed forces, nu metallers Five Finger Death Punch (FFDP) visited Iraq to perform for the troops earlier this month. New photos and video surfaced over the weekend showing front man Ian Moody talking about the troops and how the band worked to try to break the monotonous days the troops face. Some active service troops in the thick of war have become extremely fond of FFDP's death squad motif with the shadowy mascot appearing on some tanks and tunes from FFDP's album blasting through PA speakers. Check out footage (here, here and here) and photos (here) of the March 5th performance at the Contingency Operation Location Q-West, Iraq. From the Middle East to the Mid-West Speaking of FFDP, they will be hooking up with a few bands to play some shows here in the Mid-West. Get your calendar out and ready to mark the date May 19th. FFDP will be joining the same stage as Hellyeah, Seether, Drowning Pool, and Lacuna Coil at the Peoria Convention Center. This is perfect for Hellyeah, as this string of shows throughout Wisconsin and one show in Illinois will be just before their new album is released. The yet-to-be titled album from Hellyeah, which drummer Vinnie Paul said is a little bit more southern, a little bit more rock and roll with some very metal moments, will be out June 1st. Singer Chad Gray told the Pulse of Radio about the recording process at Paul's house as being quite the experience. Paul's house is atop a very steep hill in Arlington, Texas. People who visit the house say it's even dangerous when it's not raining (reminds me of my childhood home). But, with 45-foot ceilings, the acoustics in the house are ideal for recording.
