March 17, 2010 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop Abrupt ending In the past, unruly fans would get all upset when a musical act abruptly left the stage. Thankfully this was not the case at the Rams Head Live last night. After three songs deep into a headlining performance in Maryland, Megadeth left the stage. It wasn't because of people blatantly filming the show, something that made Axl Rose was all fussy about down at Riverport in St. Louis a bunch of years back. For Megadeth's show last night, the house public address system (PA) reportedly “took a dump” (though much harsher words were used). Video of Megadeth's front man Dave Mustaine surfaced online showing him coming out on stage, bitching about the house PA. In a recorded phone message from Mustaine, the front man explains how the Baltimore show was doomed from the beginning of the night and that Megadeth would indeed be back in Baltimore. Next time, Mustaine said they would rather play at a gas station with a few generators and their own PA which would work better than the POS PA the band couldn't play through last night. 80s glam rock vs 80s pop Reporting about celebrity reality television isn't my thing. But, when rock stars are involved, then it becomes music news. Poison's Bret Michaels has been featured in the latest season of Donald Trump's “Celebrity Apprentice” alongside celebrities like Sharron Osbourne, Cindy Lauper, Sinbad and even our very own former Governor Rod Blagojevich. The first project Trump put the celebs up to was running a restaurant with all the profits going to charity. There were two teams. The mens' team was fronted by Michaels, a rock icon from the 80s and a lifelong diabetic, while the womens' team was lead by 80s pop star, Cindy Lauper. So, who won? Well, the $100,000 prize was awarded to Team Michaels who then donated the cash money to the American Diabetes Association. Michaels recently celebrated his 47th birthday and to put even more sugar-free icing on his diabetic cake his latest single “Nothing to Lose” from his solo album “Custom Built” has reached No. 3 on AC radio … but you won't hear that garbage on QLZ … why? Because anything with Miley Cyrus (or Sasquatch Face … as I like to call her) will never make it on The Rock Station.
