March 16, 2010 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop Streaming samples It's Tuesday which means there some new stuff to look forward to in the stores. But, if you want to peer into the future—here are a couple of new things to check out online. After 6 years of being apart and 9 years since their last album, Stone Temple Pilots have recorded a new one and controversial front man Scott Weiland said the album is done being mastered. The band even had an exclusive listening party a few weeks ago. Well, now there is an audio sample of the first single to check out online. Granted, it's only 18 seconds long, but it will give you an idea of if whether it's gold or not. With lyrics like “I like it when you talk about love ... You always were my favorite drug even when we used to take drugs,” the first single “Between the Lines” is sure to be a hit. Something new from something old, 80s glam rock group RATT has a new single. You can here it online through Roadrunner Records. The tune “Eat Me Up Alive” will appear on the forthcoming album “Infestation” due out April 20th. Listen to RATT's latest here. Getting back together Rumors are rumors, but most times in the music bizz, rumors tend to come true … especially when it's a first person rumor. System of a Down had been rumored a while ago to be getting back together. That still doesn't seem to be happening, but SOAD Drummer John Dolmayan posted on his Facebook page that his and Derik Malakian's side project, Scars on Broadway, will be getting together for an April show in LA. In 2008, after Scars did a brief headlining tour, Malakian announced a cancellation of the tour because his heart just wasn't into touring. So, look out for some updates about Scars on Broadway's show soon. If we can't have SOAD, then a combination of Serj's stuff mixed with some Scars will just have to do.
