March 12, 2010 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop You know it's metal when ... 160 people were arrested in Bogota, Columbia Wednesday outside of a Metallica show. The show was sold out and a riot of fans were tearing stuff up trying to get into the venue to enjoy the rock show, but police had another idea. Opening up the water cannons and packs of plastic wrist ties, 1,500 police with tanks and riot gear proceeded to march into the riot. This isn't the first time that a crowd of unruly Metallica fans in some South American country had to be dispersed by the police. The Bogota police chief was mistaken about who the headlining act was, however. He said “The presence of police and riot teams was necessary because these misfits – there's no other name for them – damaged some windows in the surrounding area.” It was a Metallica concert, not a Misfits concert. Geeze! Police in Bogota can be so out of touch with what's in the now. I tell you what, though ... this makes Billy Joel fans look like a bunch of sissies. Blind, but can now see Meanwhile, that quadriplegic AC/DC fan that got his eye impaled at a concert in Australia when his motorized wheel chair went out of control into the mosh pit ...well, he's suing the venue. John Simpson was enjoying the sold out show on a special wheelchair platform on the floor of the venue when his buddy (they call friends mates down under) accidentally hit his wheelchair joy stick and sent his motorized seat into a pit of crazed AC/DC fans. Well, as I'm sure you remember hearing in the news and on Free Beer and Hot Wings, Simpson's medal prod he uses to function things on his wheelchair impaled his ocular cavity and he is now blind. Simpson, now blind, sees money. Catch the Music Minute every weekday with the Free Beer and Hot Wings Show on 92-7 WQLZ, the Rock Station. |
