Iraqi war metal

These guys make Slayer look a bunch of bitches! They survived the brutality of the Saddam Regime and even witnessed the occupation of foreign troops on their homeland. With IEDs, roadside bombs and firefights surrounding them every day and night, Iraqi natives Acrassicuada found time and wherewithal to practice in dark, humid, and dingy basements. You begin to understand why the middle easterners are ready to make the big time with their unique brand of heavy metal. The band was featured in a very compelling 2007 documentary called “Heavy Metal in Baghdad” which may be available at your video store or you can check it out on Netflix. Well, the band's dream is surely coming true. Their first ever four song EP, titled “Only the Dead See the End of the War” is available streaming online at their MySpace page. The EP was produced by Testament's guitarist Alex Skolnick and the engineer of Lamb of God and System of a Down, Josh Wilbur. The band made it to the states this year to perform a January show at a New York night club. Show your support for metal and get online to buy this EP! Check out the video for "Garden of Stones" on YouTube.

Open auditions

Billy Corgan is holding auditions for a new bassist and keyboardist. Last summer, Corgan worked to find a new drummer and sure as S he found one. He's a bit young, at age 19, but there is no drama with this new guy. I mean, it's unlikely he will get down into a heroin fix at a hotel with the keyboardist like former Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin did. Corgan is taking applications from now to March 31st. If you're interested, get a music resume together along with a bio, photos and a performance video and send it in. Corgan's plans are to finish releasesing track-by-track the remaining 41 tracks from “Teargarden by Kaleidoscope” then hitting up a world-wide tour with an entirely new and fresh Smashing Pumpkins lineup.
