February 26, 2010 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop Correction A quick correction: Yesterday, it was reported that Stone Temple Pilot's most recent attempt will be due out June 1st and had yet been named. Well, now it is being reported that the album will be out May 25th and will be self-titled. Now on with the rest. Virtual clubbin' Super group Chickenfoot is setting up a DVD to be released. With members including guitar legend Joe Satriani, former Van Halen front man Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the DVD is sure to be a huge hit. There is also a plan to air exclusive sneak peaks of the live DVD at a club near you throughout March and April. Get more details online at VirtualVenuesNetwork.com. The DVD will be footage of two different live shows filmed in 2009 put together in one package. The band got together back in 2008 and have been going strong ever since. The band recently went gold in Canada. Live performance available System of a Down's Serj Tankian had a symphonic performance last year for his side project's album Elect the Dead, and it will be out on CD and DVD March 9th. But if you can't wait, the historic performance is available in both audio and video through iTunes. Last March, Serj hooked up with Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra to perform his album in it's entirety. So, if you're looking for an psychedelic experience, with classical trademark surrealist images and skewed time signatures--all created by Tankian--then you will want to get your hands on this release.
