February 5, 2010 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop Tyler tried to be Page I thought I'd be done reporting about the antics of Aerosmith and all the drama that has been going down for the past six months, but not with this story staring at me. Joe Perry, for the first time, has publicly disclosed that Tyler once tried out for the legendary Led Zeppelin, when the band was looking at a reunion in 2008. Tyler disappeared and Perry called around to find out what was up and indeed Tyler was in London trying to persuade Zeppelin to take him on, according to The Pulse of Radio. So, what happened with the tryout? Well, Perry says that Jimmy Page told him that it was very awkward. Tyler was under the impression that Zeppelin would be working on new material and was doing a poor job at recalling some of the classic Zeppelin tunes. So, the band decided to pass on Tyler. Perry hints at this incident being the beginning of a damaged relationship between him and Tyler. TCV to record sometime this year Speaking of Led Zeppelin, the former bassist, John Paul Jones, confirms that his latest project will be headed back to the studio. After a huge buildup and then the release of their debut self-titled album, Them Crooked Vultures will be recording again sometime this year. Jones isn't the only one telling the media what's up, Queens of the Stone Age front man Josh Homme is also on the record saying that the band is having far too much fun and a new album is in the cards. Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl was the glue that hooked the band together, introducing Jones to Homme last year. The guys hooked up in secret to begin recording their debut. They've been touring the world in support of their debut. Be looking for the second Them Crooked Vultures album sometime late summer! Be sure to tune in to NBC's Saturday Night Live this weekend and put up with the sophomoric humor of the cast because Them Crooked Vultures will perform.
