Alternative privacy Let's face it--the system is clearly degenerating at a rapid rate. Not only is the economic picture around the world still very bleak with the prospect of more war on the horizon, but the Internet is turning into a battlefield where our digital identities and online freedoms do have a price and are being sold-out and bought on the open market. Think this is a joke? This is reality. Twitter censors in Thailand, Google changing it's privacy policy at a whim, Facebook's PIO ... all while the Government tracks down websites that broadcast sporting events like the Super Bowl. But there are alternatives and the author of Spy Chips, Dr. Katherine Albrecht, will join Saturday Session live at 3:30 pm CST to talk about what you can do now to secure who you are and what you are. False flag terrorist gun-runners A big discussion is about to take place. There are countless examples of governments using problem-reaction-solution in order to obtain a political objective--primarily a goal aimed at control over you. Be it the 40-some-odd interrupted terror plots (plans facilitated primarily by agents of the FBI) that lead to an over-hyped threat and more anti-terror funding or another recent example of the government allowing guns to walk across the border as a way to frame the second Amendment--we have to wake up to the reality. False flag terror is real and used by elements of governments to protect or insight certain interests. Ron Paul's foreign policy You're bound to hear "Ron Paul is great, except his foreign policy is dangerous" from a myriad of sources including Walid Shoebat who will be a guest to Saturday Session tonight at 5 pm CST. Shoebat claims to be a "Former PLO Terrorists Now Speaks out for US and Israel" on his website Shoebat.com In a press release, Shoebat is quoted saying "a significant percentage of Ron Paul's support comes from people who believe 9/11 was perpetrated by the United States government. Wouldn't an enemy that wants its identity hidden encourage the perpetuation of that belief?" Of course, this will get heated and maybe we can take calls with questions for Mr. Shoebat, so get them lined up at 217.629.7970 or email your questions to Bishop@WMAY.com. Don't miss this heated debate.
If there's time, we'll discuss Eugenics. What is it? It's not just Hitler's science anymore ... We'll review some recent examples by way of lab-created super bird flu that seems to have been given the green light by the scientific community or the settlements paid out to minorities that were tested on by agencies of the government. Be it through vaccinations, bio-weapons or even genetic modification of our foods, our species is being changed by a very sophisticated science that is working to either kill off the majority of humanity, or blindly and erroneously following a plan of genetic purification--a foolish and dangerous venture. What's the history of eugenics and where does it stand now? This is an important question especially given this week's dust-up over Susan G. Koman foundation and Planned Parenthood. Did you know that Planned Parenthood International was the work of Margaret Higgins Sanger who coined the term "birth-control" and was a eugenicist. News on the March Every week Saturday Session blitzes through a slew of headlines that all seem interconnected--that is if there is enough time. We'll also keep an eye on any news out of Nevada for the beginning of today's caucuses. Don't miss a minute of tonight's show. February 3, 2012 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop Holding things up There could be a potential snag in the Black Sabbath reunion and it doesn’t have anything to do with Tony Iommi’s cancer. One founding members is taking to the picket line with grievances that he wants fair pay and a lil’ respect. Drummer Bill Ward says he wants a contract that, quote, “reflects some dignity and respect toward me as an original member of the band.” While the rest of the band packed up and headed back to England to record while being to be closer to guitarist Tony Iommi while he undergoes cancer treatment, Ward says he’s in a holding pattern—but ready to pack up and head overseas. He also says this isn’t about money … it’s about his rights, dignity and respectability as a rock musician and he doesn’t want fans to hold him responsible if the reunion falls apart. Uh, if everyone’s a go except for Bill, I think fans will have no choice but to lay blame on Ward’s shoulders. Orgy to tour

February 2, 2012 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop Top secret show Just days after several previews of new tunes were released online, Van Halen took to a stage for a top-secret Los Angeles show … and there’s photos and video. The band performed at a media showcase which acted as a launch pad for the album which comes out next week and for the North American Tour which starts up in Kentucky February 18th. The Los Angeles Times asked “whether a ragged bunch of aging dudes can still kick it with the kind of enthusiasm you’d hope, given both the anticipation -- and the fat paychecks each will be cashing in the coming year.” They answered their own question – "They can." You can listen to previews of "China Town," "The Trouble with Never," "As Is," and "She’s The Woman." More side projects

February 1, 2012 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop Correcting the record Don’t you hate it when your Wikipedia page is full of lies? When someone says something about you that isn’t true? So does Chevelle. The band has gone in and corrected some misinformation that was posted online. Drummer Sam Loeffler corrects the band’s Wikipedia information so that when journalists reference that page, which most who talk to the band do, they can get the most accurate information ... well as accurate as the band wants the record to be. Meanwhile singer Pete Loeffler apologizes to fans who find their Twitter page boring when their not on the road. He says tweets are more interesting when the band is touring. Tweets are also more interesting when bands go grocery shopping. Taylor/Grohl collab We’re finding more out about the Corey Taylor/Dave Grohl collaboration. It’s not so much a musical collaboration, as bad ass as that is. Grohl is producing a documentary about the Sound City Studios which closed down May 2011. The former Nirvana drummer got his start in that studio, a studio that has seen the likes of everybody from Tom Petty to Nine Inch Nails. Grohl bought the sound board and is apparently asking artists to come back and record through it. Where does Taylor come in? Well, Slipknot recorded their album Iowa at the now shuttered studio. Taylor says he performed a song on the studio’s old board with Grohl and Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen. January 31, 2012 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop A tale of AC/DC in Springfield, Illinois
A newly surfaced article posted to the online version of fanzine ümlaut provides some insight into a very detailed account of several kids from St. Louis making it up to Springfield, Illinois, on May 18, 1979 to see their favorite bands AC/DC and UFO. This was way back in the day when Bon Scott was still the front man. The story’s author says that when the friends got to Springfield they discovered the show was sold out. “Guess this cow town rocked after all,” the author notes. He also talks about waiting outside the Bel Air Motel where they had heard the band was staying. The kids sought AC/DC to get ‘em in the sold out show for free. Sure enough the band came through and not only provided tickets for the show, but also hooked up backstage passes. As an added bonus—before the show on the bus, the star-struck kids from St. Louis got an advanced listening to the 1979 album Highway to Hell. The album wasn’t due out in the US for another month or so. Since, Highway to Hell has gone platinum seven times. The incredible retelling then goes into some detail about other venues the kids followed the band to with mentions of Mississippi Nights in Sauget, Illinois, and elsewhere. January 28, 2011 Podcast update
Show brief Greg Bishop hosts Saturday Session from 3 to 7p CST on 970 WMAY, The News and Talk of Springfield. Listen online at www.WMAY.com. Tonight there's focus on Illinois, on media conglomeration, police-state predictions, sounding of the war drums, an overview of eugenics and News on the March. Got something to say? Sound off by calling the show anytime at 217.629.7970 or email: bishop@wmay.com. Bringing it home The first amendment gets a win in Springfield as a case involving sidewalk chalk gets thrown out. Springfield public utility City Water Light and Power has proposed a rate increase of up to 9.5%. What led to the need for $19 million? Also some Springfield city workers are adding to the number of unemployed, which adds to the high numbers of unemployed in Illinois. One job that also got slashed from the Springfield area was not within city government but was at the local newspaper--the State Journal-Register. What does that mean to the paper being "local"? Media conglomeration & censorship Springfield newspaper is owned by Gatehouse Media. Just who is Gatehouse? There are a handful of major corporations that own the majority of media in this country. You've got your Viacoms, your News Corps, your GE's, your Time Warners, your CBS's ... Get a complete rundown of who owns what with this wonderful resource from Free Press. What about Mid-West Family Broadcasting? Get the scoop tonight with Saturday Session! War drums Which came first ... The war or the rhetoric? Some analysts will say that the wars with Iran has already started. You've got the string of assassinations of Iranian scientists, continued sanctions and embargoes against the country and the rhetoric from politicians is thick. Is all of this leading to the inevitable? What can we do to stop it? Discuss the pounding of the war drums with Bishop on 970 WMAY. Police state predictions It's difficult to look around and not see what the world is turning into. Every week there are stories about the TSA overreaching (down the pants of a grandma or grandson) or of over-the-skies military exercises in coordination with the LAPD & drones being used for domestic policing, or new cameras with special lights being used as pre-crime fighters, or the FBI wanting to tap the internet ... What does the future look like? Can we logically think through the progression of where the military industrial technocratic police state is taking us? It's a dreary forecast but necessary to understand the implications and devise solutions to protect your rights bestowed upon by your creator.

January 27, 2012 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop Car dreams
Almost, brother! Now this is just really bizarre. There’s a story floating around out there that Hulk Hogan almost joined Metallica. The former pro-wrestler told “The Sun” magazine that he was really good friends with drummer Lars Ulrich. Hogan also said that before being a pro-wrestler he was a session musician. When there was an opening for the band, Lars asked the Hulkster to try out for the band … but Hogan says it didn’t work out. How much truth is there to this story? Unsure. (Have some fun with this Hulk Hogan soundboard) But, there are confirmed stories that some other strange pairings may have taken place like Primus front man and bassist Les Claypool trying out to fill the void. That, of course, didn’t work out either. Catch the Music Minute every weekday with the Free Beer and Hot Wings Show on 92-7 WQLZ, the Rock Station |

Old is new Van Halen is catching some flack for a tune being previewed online. There’s a 90-second clip of a new song called “Blood and Fire” that fans say is not new at all. Apparently the tune is an adaptation from an instrumental song titled “Ripley” written by Eddie Van Halen for the 1984 movie The Wild Life starring Chris Penn. “Ripley” was never released on a soundtrack for the movie, but diehard fans quickly pointed out the similarities. Another new song, “Stay Frosty,” was featured on last night’s episode of CSI. January 25, 2012 Music News from the Rock Station, 92-7 WQLZ by Bishop TV premier You’ve already heard the new tune “Tattoo” and it has landed really high on the charts. Now Van Halen is ready to release another new song, but they’re planning on having the first airing on the TV, not the radio. The band will debut their new and previously unheard tune “Stay Frosty” on the popular cop drama CSI. You’ll also hear "Tattoo" as well during tonight’s airing on CBS. Check your local listings. Van Halen plan a release of the album A Different Kind of Truth February 7th. It will be the first Van Halen album in 13 years and the first with front man David Lee Roth in 28 years. A tour will kick off February 18th in Kentucky with a stop in St. Louis at the Scottrade Center April 29th. Album talk It’s definitely not a throwback. That’s how Soundgarden front man Chris Cornell is describing the forthcoming album, the first for the band in 15 years. Cornell sat down for a video interview with Australian radio and said the band has “always kind of progressed from album to album. So it's definitely not a throwback. It's not [Soundgarden] getting back to [their] roots — it's not that — it's just kind of a natural progression.” The band has been working on the new album for sometime now having entered the studio in March of last year. We’re expecting the new album to come out sometime this year. When? That’s a good question. Catch the Music Minute every weekday with the Free Beer and Hot Wings Show on 92-7 WQLZ, the Rock Station |

It's Super Bowl weekend and the big game is expected to draw a hundred-million viewers. Americans and others from around the world will watch the spectacle of fancy camera work, flashy athletes making huge plays and strategically crafted media packages meant to fuel consumerism. This self-determined holiday, and the activities surrounding it, are alarming. By activities, I don't mean the elaborate parties of sports fans getting together to discuss the factoids of who caught what ball when--that's their rights of assembly and speech at practice. My concern are the activities surrounding the actual physical stadium in Indianapolis and the willingness to cooperate and go along to get along.
Eugenics
Gotta tell ya ... didn’t see this one coming. Orgy is back! And they’re gonna be hitting the road, but with a new lineup. The band that got it’s start in the late 90s with the debut album Candyass has been on tumultuous break for years. There were whispers of a reunion in 2008, but then things fell apart when it was reported vocalist Jay Gordon was leaving the band. Gordon later came out saying he owns the name and wants to go forward. The new lineup has only Gordon as the original members and he says his move isn’t meant to quote “piss” anyone off. The band will take to road February 10 with a stop in Chicago February 24, Sterger, Illinois, February 25 and O’Fallon, Missouri, March 2nd.
While Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter awaits the release of Initium II by Sol Invicto, a side project Carpenter is involved with, Deftones front man Chino hard at work on new music ... for a side project. Called ††† (Crosses), Chino hooks up with guitarist Shaun Lopez. Earlier this week they performed live and there’s
Just when you thought the market was flooded with enough KISS memorabilia, you’re mistaken. Now there’s some new dolls … ‘er, I mean action figures, out that are being called “retro.” Essentially, they’re the almost exact replicas of some dolls with the likeness of KISS that were popular in the 70s. Once made by Mego Toys, a new company, Figures Toy Company, decided it was time again to bring ‘em back. Now the Mego Toy versions were twelve inch tall. The Figures Toy Company replicas are only eight inch tall, but they have the same “retro” feel. Each figuring comes with a t-shirt ... but it’s a mini t-shirt, so you may not even be able to wear it.
It’s a little over a week before the “Big Game” and the commercials are starting to come together with some being previewed online. Motley Crue will have some time in the sun as they appear in a 60-second Kia spot featuring a car driving through a couple’s “wildest dreams.” In that dream there will be a mixed martial arts fighter, a Victoria Secret model, a bull rider and footage from a wild Motley Crue concert. The ad will finish with a fairy tale ending. You can see the ad for the Kia Optima Limited with Motley Crue during the first quarter of the “Big Game.”
It’s official! This year’s Mayhem Festival has been announced and it is going to be brutal as ever. The maggot army will be in full force as the boys get back behind the mask with Slipknot. Also headlining will be Slayer and Anthrax. The 26-date tour kicks off June 30 in San Bernardino, California, snaking throughout the country with a stop in St. Louis at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater July 20th and in Chicago July 21st. The lineup will also include As I Lay Dying, The Devil Wears Prada and Asking Alexandria. Get-off-your-ass pre-sale goes live April 6th. I’d suggest keeping a close eye on
