September 10, 2011 Podcast update
Show brief It has been almost ten years since the tragic events that unfolded on September 11, 2001. During this shortened Saturday Session we'll discuss what has happened since 9/11 and just how far will things continue to go. But before that we'll revisit Illinois' political economy to talk about the pre-primary process for the GOP. And we'll be joined by Ted Debrowski from the Illinois Policy Institute to discuss the president's big jobs speech in relation to Illinois and Governor Quinn's recent announcement. Listen to the show live from 3 to 5:30 CST at WMAY.com. Join the Saturday Session chatroom during the show here! Political economy The Illinois GOP has a huge uphill battle ahead of them and it is only going to get more intense given that the current administration hails from the the Chicago-land area. A recent proposal to the state's republican party would have changed how delegates would have been chosen for Illinois' presidential primary. The proposal would have allowed for state leadership to chose what delegates would go to the national GOP convention instead of having the public vote. This measure failed to pass the GOP's state central committee. But there's something else that we must consider about the future of Illinois' political economy. Bill Clutter, a former Springfield alderman and investigator with the Downstate Innocence Project is running for state senate and at the same time he is bringing forth a proposal to amend the Illinois constitution to allow for an open primary (IllinoisOpenPrimary.com). How does the closed primary and open primary impact Illinois' political economy? Macro/microcosms This week we saw two different democrats take two very different approaches to handling the balancing act of budgets and cuts. President Obama made the announcement of wanting to do what amounts to another stimulus project while Illinois Governor Pat Quinn announced he is cutting almost two-thousand jobs and shutting down a handful of facilities across the state. Vice President of Policy at the Illinois Policy Institute will join the show at 3:30 to talk about these two instances and what they mean for taxpayers. Ten years later It's hard to imagine that for the past ten years more than half that time Saturday Session has advocated for a new investigation and for the general public to ask questions and demand answers about what happened on 9/11. This show has been met with so much resistance because of the information provided that contradicts the official story. Tonight we won't try to convince anyone that the official story is a scam, we'll simply discuss what has occurred in the past 10 years: the war on terror, torture, cover-ups, recession(s), more war and on and on ... Saturday Session will be a best-of online only after 5:30 as NASCAR takes over the airwaves. In that best-of you'll hear some flashback conversations with a few guests. Want even more? Here is just a few of the incredible guest Saturday Session has brought on to discuss 9/11 over the past five years (caution, these are from years ago before Bishop evolved his on air voice so there's a puker alert! :) One of the first interviews on the show was July 22, 2006 UIS Chemistry Professor Dr. Harshavardhan Bapat where we discussed thermite and how it cuts through steel. Rich iron spheres, the product of the thermite reaction, were discovered in the WTC dust by USGS and others. Even further discussion with another scientist, physicist Steven Jones can be heard here from September 8th, 2007. Ret. Lt. Col Robert Bowman who says that we don't know the truth and that things are always suspicious when standard operating procedure changes was on the show March 31st, 2007. Watch the video interview presentation embedded (or linked above) below: In a classic Saturday Session from September 30, 2006, investigative reporter Jim Marrs joined the show to talk about his research into 9/11. Also within the above linked flashback podcast is then Green candidate for Governor Rich Whitney talking about what he would do as governor if elected in 2006. Rich Whitney joined Saturday Session several times again since and has come out calling for a new investigation into 9/11. We could go on and list the amazing guests who have come on the show to talk about the events of 9/11 including Dr. David Ray Griffin, Richard Gage and others. Point is, there are rational and sane arguments that point to the fact that we do not know the truth about what happened on that day and there was a cover up! Regardless of what you think happened that day, one thing is for certain: our very way of life has changed and not for the better. Tune in to Saturday Session from 4 to 5:30 for a live conversation about what has happened since 9/11.
