Show brief

Greg Bishop goes beyond controversy--It's Saturday Session with Bishop. Tune in for four hours to get a perspective you won't get anywhere else in central Illinois. Catch it live on 970 WMAY, The News and Talk of Springfield every Saturday evening from 3 to 7 PM CST. Listen live at WMAY.com.

Political economy

Economics isn't just for talking about jobs and money. Economics can also talk about other instances of human interaction and historical happenings. Listen in for a quick analysis and outlook for Illinois' political economy. A change in the delegate process for presidential candidates is being proposed. Will the GOP leadership vote for the change? Just like taxes and possible regulations taking it's toll on job creation so is this potential change taking a toll on political activism.

Eavesdropping awareness

Are courts and juries waking up? Are they finally understanding that regardless of something being a law it doesn't always mean there is justice. Do they get just how ridiculous it is to charge someone with a felony for recording police officers in public while they perform their public duties. Tiawanda Moore had flipped on a recorder when she reported police harassment to the police and then was arrested and charged with eavesdropping. Last week she was aquitted of eavesdropping charges.

This week a US Appeals Court said "a citizen’s right to film government officials, including law enforcement officers, in the discharge of their duties in a public space is a basic, vital, and well-established liberty safeguarded by the First Amendment".

Let's just hope that the courts in Illinois will do the same for Michael Allison. Flashback to some of his story with Saturday Session only on 970 WMAY, The News and Talk of Springfield.

Gun runner update

The ATF seems to be in shambles as more information comes pouring out about the operation that had the federal government and the justice department involved in getting guns into the hands of Mexican drug cartels. These weapons sold under the noses of the ATF eventually killed Americans. At 4PM Larry Pratt from Gun Owners of America joins the show to give us an update about who knew what and who is being held responsible in the government's gun running program.

Liberty dollar

At 5PM CST Saturday Session will be joined by Bernard von NotHaus, creator of the Liberty Dollar gold and sliver coins and certificates. A jury convicted von NotHaus of counterfeit. The Federal Government says he is a terrorist because he and the Liberty Dollar, the feds claim, worked to undermine our democracy by undermining our currency. Maybe they should look in the mirror or cast a gaze over at the Federal Reserve!

Bernard faces prison time but has not been sentenced and there's word that the feds may be looking to confiscate Liberty Dollars from American's pockets. They already seized (stolen) von NotHaus's reserves. Get all the details tonight with Saturday Session.

News on the March

As we do every week, we try to get through all the news from the past week that you need to know about. It is an impossible task but one worth the undertaking. 9/11 remembrance

Next week marks the 10th anniversary the September 11th terror attacks. Let's not talk about what happened on that day, but what has happened since. Americans have been willing to give up their liberty for a little sense of false security. US troops (and State Guard troops) have been deployed to the middle east and hundreds of thousands of lives have been lost. At the same time Americans have awoken to a political reality that Washington is bought out by the mega banks and these foreign wars we're entangled in are not keeping us safe but only making us vulnerable to more potential attacks.

Regardless of who you think is responsible for 9/11 (quite frankly, we do not know the truth about 9/11 and need a new investigation), the fact is the military industrial complex has taken advantage of what happened on that day and enough is enough!
